New York driver charged with 52 felonies

A car accident involving a drunk driver may result in serious injury or even death. Victims of drunk driving car accidents may be entitled to compensation for injuries, lost wages, and pain and suffering, especially if a court finds that the person responsible for the accident was reckless. One New York man is facing 52 felony counts for his alleged involvement in a fatal drunk driving accident.

The 22-year-old man allegedly caused a crash on December 1 that left two people dead and two others hospitalized. According to prosecutors, the man under the influence of marijuana and alcohol and that he was speeding at the time of the crash. He has been charged with 52 felonies in connection with the accident. The charges include four counts of vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

It has now come to light that the accident is not the first time the driver has been flagged for being dangerous behind the wheel. He has a reported total of 22 traffic tickets and four previous license suspensions. After the fatal crash, his license was suspended for the fifth time.

Victims of negligent or drunk drivers should determine their rights and all of the legal options open to them. Compensation may be available for those suffering from serious injuries and for those who have lost loved ones to drunk drivers. Compensation to cover medical bills, funeral costs and loss of future income can help those trying to cope with the fallout from serious car accidents.
