Was the weather to blame for upstate New York car crash?

A Hoosick accident very near the New York border with Vermont is currently under investigation. While the cause remains undetermined, some people may be quick to blame the driver of a newspaper delivery van for crossing into oncoming traffic, yet it is very possible that weather could have contributed to the car accident.

This winter has been especially harsh to the Northeast and it would not be very surprising if the roads were slippery at 6:30 a.m. the day of the accident. It is true that drivers have to drive slowly and for the conditions when it is slippery, snowy or icy, but anyone who drives in the Albany area knows that sometimes even the most careful drivers can be involved in an accident. Just because someone is driving slowly doesn't mean that he or she can't hit a patch of black ice and slide into oncoming traffic.

The accident happened near the intersection of Routes 22 and 7 in Hossick. The newspaper delivery fan is said to have drifted into oncoming traffic before slamming into a tractor-trailer truck. The driver of the van was seriously injured and was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Is he responsible for the crash? It hasn't yet been determined, but if one of the two other pepole who were injured in the crash want to seek compensation, they will need to provide sufficient evidence that the accident couldn't have been caused by the weather. No one should be forced to pay for someone else's medical bills unless it can be proved that he or she caused them.
