Biography

Carol C. Poles is a partner and senior trial attorney in the firm and has over thirty years of trial experience. She has successfully defended physicians of varied specialties, other health care professionals, and institutions in medical malpractice and skilled nursing malpractice actions achieving favorable verdicts in countless cases that have sought multi-million dollar damages. Carol also represents physicians, nurses, and social workers involved in disciplinary proceedings before State regulatory agencies.

Carol is a 1985 graduate of the University of the South, where she earned early membership into the Order of the Gown academic honor society, and served as a member of the Honor Code Committee. She is a 1991 graduate of Emory University School of Law. Carol is admitted to practice in the State of New York, and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York.

For many years, she has been honored with the Lawyers of Distinction Award for Medical Malpractice Defense. She is a member of the NYS Academy of Trial Lawyers, the New York State Bar Association, and the Albany County Bar Association.

Prior to joining the firm in 2019, Carol was in private practice for many years in the Hudson Valley region where her practice focused on medical malpractice defense. She also served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York where she successfully defended medical malpractice, personal injury, and tort claims against State employees and agencies. She began her career as a prosecutor in the Office of the District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, where she litigated and tried a wide variety of violent felony offenses including homicides, drug offenses, and domestic violence offenses to just verdicts.
