1 dead, 33 injured in horrible Long Island wreck

Automobile accidents can be devastating, resulting in serious injuries and loss of life. In the state of New York, for any accident where negligence is found to be a cause, the expenses incurred by an accident victim or surviving relatives can be recovered from the negligent driver or from the insurance company covering that driver. When the accident involves multiple vehicles, though, such as the crash that occurred on Long Island on December 19, recovery may be more complicated and depends on the level of insurance that the relevant drivers have.

Dirt bike crash leaves 1 dead, 1 critically injured

Motorcycling has risks. Of course, so does driving a car. Unfortunately, when motorcycle accidents occur, the results are usually more catastrophic than the aftermath of a car crash. In most cases, those aboard any type of motorcycle that is involved in an accident will often suffer from severe injuries that can sometimes result in a potentially permanent disability. Sadly, this is true for two young men who were involved in an accident while riding a dirt bike.

Driver in Halfmoon accident may be charged in deaths of teens

Unexpected death is naturally accompanied by grieving by the family and friends of those who died. That's especially true when death is caused by a fatal motor vehicle accident. Families, friends and classmates are grieving following a Dec. 1 car accident in Halfmoon, New York, just north of Albany, which claimed the lives of two 17-year-old Shenendehowa High School seniors.

Study shows ineffectiveness of rural cellphone ban for drivers

Distracted drivers can be dangerous on the road, causing accidents through reduced reaction times and a lack of awareness. Cellphone use is one of the most common distractions, with users often devoting both their hands and vision to the phone's operation. This has led many states to ban the use of the devices while operating a vehicle, but a recent study has shown that such bans are not as effective as one thought, significantly reducing accidents only while driving within a city environment.
